Giret Café in Nanteuil

The café, created by the Giret couple, dates from the beginning of the XX th century.

In 1915, the Giret café was seized by the French army in order to accommodate a few soldiers of the 10th regiment of light infantry. The regiment also occupied the parsonage and Migné boys’ school, whilst the officers were accommodated in the Auxances manor.

Later, the Giret café was converted into an inn and tobacconist’s shop, and became the favourite place to celebrate weddings, feasts (banquets) and dances whilst also serving as a hairdressing saloon on Sundays and as an itinerant cinema.
